Our Counselor

Jennifer Snider, MA, LMHC is passionate about growth and healing. After years in the business world, she decided to take a much-needed pause to reflect on her life and values. During this introspective journey, she discovered that many others were grappling with similar existential questions. People often sought her counsel, drawn to her comforting presence, yet she realized she lacked the answers they needed. This revelation sparked her determination to learn how to empower others in their search for their clarity. Committed to this mission, she pursued and completed a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling in 2011. Through her education, she came to believe that love must manifest in tangible ways, underscoring the importance of respecting and understanding each individual's choices, autonomy, and agency. With newfound knowledge and compassion, she dedicated herself to helping others navigate their life journeys with confidence, gentleness toward self, and self-discovery.

Jennifer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) by the state of Indiana and is an in-network provider for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, the United and Optum network, Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Quest, and Physician's Health Plan of Northern Indiana. She accepts self-pay, offers a superbill to submit to your insurance for out-of-network services and accepts as payment HSA, FSA, and all major credit cards.

Religious Trauma and Spiritual Abuse

Difficult relationships can often leave us feeling like we’re to blame, but it’s important to recognize that this belief isn’t always true. Let’s take a moment to explore the complexities of these relationships together. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and understanding the dynamics can help us find a clearer path forward. Remember, your feelings are valid, and the journey toward healing is a shared one!

Relationship Issues

Trauma can manifest in various ways, creating barriers that may hinder our relationships and personal growth. Understanding this impact is crucial for healing and reconnection. We specialize in the following types of traumatic experiences: religious abuse and adverse spiritual experiences, relational, sexual, neglect and other forms of physical and emotional abuse.

Jennifer has special interest in religious trauma; she believes it's a particularly destructive experience. Not only do you have the violation of the act itself and the environment surrounding the event, but with faith being the context of the adverse event, the harm experienced becomes more profound. Often, there's a loss of or lack of development of a sense of self and a denial of our natural intuition and emotions, which are meant to help us make decisions for our life.

There are also those who have experienced church hurt, maybe the painful events were more like adverse experiences and it's affected your ability to trust yourself and/or your faith circles. This pain matters too, and we can work together to help you find your way through it.

Jennifer utilizes a non-religious, open and curious approach to create the safety and support necessary to heal and foster meaningful connections. Her goal is to establish an inviting, non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences, share your journey, and learn how to overcome these challenges. Together, we can work towards healing and a more honest way of relating to ourselves and those around us. agnostic
